About Us

The Miss Morgan County Fair Pageant was started in 1958. It was started by one women "Viola Suits Palumbo" whom was the 1948 Miss Illinois. The IAAF convention was needing something to keep people at the convention the whole weekend.

She presented the idea of the county fairs having a queen pageant, then a state pageant to be hosted during the IAAF convention. Palumbo went to every county fair board and presented her idea and offered to help them get the pageants started. That's how all county fair pageants got started. She then organized, started and served as director of the state pageant which would be held during the IAAF convention. Palumbo served as the Miss Illinois County Fair Pageant director for 35 years and stayed involved in it along with the county fair pageants till her passing in 2014.

58 years later the Morgan County Fair still has their pageant. The pageant still offers great opportunities for young ladies in the county and the opportunity to win a scholarship, grow and improve their communication skills and learn so much that will follow them through their life and careers. Morgan county has had Queens to go on and be very successful young ladies and gives them a lot of opportunities. As a county queen or the state county fair queen you have the opportunity to promote Ag, county fairs and 4-H. Help make a difference for young people today.
